And I graduated many years a go but I stayed home to raise my children after graduating. I was a stay at home mom until two years ago. My youngest son was seventeen when I started teaching while my other three children were in college. My two oldest have graduated from college since then, one in digital media and one in dietetics. My third is in college and my forth has recently graduated from Boot Camp for the Army National Guard and is now at AIT training. My oldest son is also married to a wonderful young lady. My family is my greatest joy and my best friends.
My thoughts on the Importance of Education
My mother tried to help my brother, sisters and I understand the importance of education. My father died when I was a few months shy of two years old. This left my Mom with four kids to raise by herself. It was fortunate that she had a nursing degree that would allow her to work and support her children. I was planning to start teaching when my youngest graduated from High School. Surprisingly I ended up in the same position as my mother when my husband was killed in a plane crash 2 1/2 years ago. I am grateful I had my teaching degree so I could find a job to support my family.
What I Like To Do
There are so many things I like to do it is hard to think of them all. Number one would be spending time with my kids and extended family on both sides of our family. Second would probably be doing things that will help others and bring them a smile. Next would be a tie between watching movies and reading books. Each one allows me to step into another world and learn and grow from others experiences. Learning is something I want to do my whole life. I don't always find learning easy but it is always worth it. Then I would have to say creating things. This would include scrap quilts, scrap booking, and cooking. And last I would say if I would gladly take a nap on a beach while listening to the waves.
Setting Goals
Making goals helps us each to improve and grow. As a teacher I am always needing to make goals to to help me become a better teacher. I am also setting personal goals to improve on quilting, writing, being a better person, and learning new things. If I wasn't setting goals and learning and growing life would get really boring. I have always told my children you don't have to be the best you just have to do your best. What I mean by that is we don't need to compare ourselves to others. We need to compare ourselves to who we were yesterday and figure out am I a better person than I was yesterday and how can I improve. To do our best we must always be setting goals and working towards them.
